Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, East Malaysia

Mon Feb 11th 06:50 - Thurs Feb 14th 18:30

For the first time in a decade, my entire family plus the additional member went for a holiday together to KK, East Malaysia. It was a very adventurous team. Our designated driver, Mr M & my eldest bro drove all over Sabah to see some the finest offerings Sabah has to bring.

East Malaysia is so different compared to the West (where my family & I grew up). It felt like a whole different country altogether. A lot of Malays & Chinese live & do business together. Many of them have interbred. Some looks just like Chinese but only speaks Malay. Others look just like Malays, but are in fact Chinese.

East Malaysia is the only place that permits a Muslim to marry another religion and the household are allowed to have 2 religions. Weird.. It is also a country that is very much poverty stricken. The villages were at least 10times worse than what we have seen during our missions trip to Cambodia.

Overall despite the rain pouring down from heaven 3 out of the 4 days we were there, nevertheless the family bonding was so priceless in every way & we all thoroughly enjoyed the trip!
