Davina at 1 month!

Week 1

At Week 1 of Davina's life, she eats, poos, sleeps. She is definitely one feisty little princess. She likes to latch on and off my breast and would refuse to drink after having at least 3 goes at it. It got to a point I had to express my milk by hand and feed her through a cup with the help of the midwife. She weighs 3.19kg, at 52cm long with a head circumference of 35cm

She gave her first smile on day 2 of her life. She feeds every 2-3hrs from morning to night. She is a terrible sleeper. Loved to be held even to sleep. It made Mr M & my life so difficult b/c we would always have to hold her to sleep even at night. She made us super sleep deprived alright. Even all the midwives in the nursery would cringe at the thought of her getting wheeled in to be looked after by them as she would constantly wake up the other babies with her unsettling cries. She had her blood test done on week 3 of her life when she started to get jaundiced. Unlike her brother, she did not cry at all and seemed very calm when her heel got pricked. The test result showed she had 187 bilirubin count which was in the safe zone (if the baby is above 300 bilirubin count then they have to be under the phototherapy light/incubator).

Week 2

Week 2 - First week at home sleeping in her own cot & bonding with her ever doting brother. Once again she hates her both her bouncer and her cot. I started to question myself why I bothered making Mr M move her cot into our master bedroom especially when she was sleeping w us in the bed any way. Poor Mr M holds her to sleep in his arms every single night which is the only way that would settle her. He too was sleep deprived. D cries are deafening. She cries until she is deep dark red in the face with a long 5sec pause of silence before she sets off with a loud cry. She feeds every 3hours on the dot, morning to night. She loathes bathing time. Screams and cries until she has no more voice literally. Her umbilical cord fell off at day 7 of her life. Poor mummy is totally exhausted w looking after her combined with toddler Z.
At 2wks, she weighs 3.28kg.

Week 3

At week 3, she is extremely restless at night b/c mummy milk became really low. Mummy nearly started to put her on formula until she found her secret recipe. She feeds every 2 hours. Despite the milk drying up, D still does at least 5 dirty nappy and 3 wet nappies in a day. Mummy at this stage is super cranky from sleep deprivation and is extremely emotional. Oh and did I mention she absolutely hates the dummy? She's spat it out every time we gave it to her to calm her down.

Week 4

At week 4, D is becoming more assertive of her environment. She likes to look left to right and is more awake during day times. However, she is getting day and night mixed up. She can sleep for 5hours w/o a feed during day but come night time, she wakes up every 3hours for a feed.

Week 5

At 1 month of her life, she is finally out of Size 0000 clothing. She fits perfectly in 000s! She likes to stare at you and coos when she is happy. Occasionally she may surprise you with a smile. She still feeds every 3 hours at night and about 4-5hours during day time. She still loves to be held at all times even to sleep. She is still slightly jaundiced but not to the extent that she falls asleep constantly.
She now weighs 4.64kg, 54cm in length with a head circumference of 38cm.
