House: The Pergola

About 2 months ago, all of our house backyard/frontyard blitz was finally completed! We were absolutely stoked with the outcome. Our house looked like a brand new house with a whole new garden, driveway & backyard. It took at least 18mths of us living in there to finally get to where we envisioned it to be.

We literally removed all of the grass that was growing out of control, re-landscaped the ground to make it even & finally poured little pebbles all over it (to stop the weed growing) before we commenced building the pegola. Believe it or not, it actually made our backyard looked bigger. I absolutely love the outcome because Z can now play on it without getting dirty and ride his little trike bike. We can enjoy our alfresco breakfast, lunch & dinners and most importantly (in true Asian style), I can hang all of my washing under cover!! woo hoo!

Of course, the only thing Mr M did on the pergola was to paint the roof & pillars which mind you took about 4 whole days! As for the rest, it came with a hefty price tag. I think we paid something like $15K to get a professional to do this for us which we would highly recommend anyone to use him. Mr M had also added 2 fans (for summer) to enhance the alfresco dining experience as well as spotlights & these cool looking wall lights along the bottom. Now all we need is an outdoor gas heater! Can someone kindly donate please as housewarming present? ;)
