1) He's more alert & awake than his 1st week & is always inquisitive to study the face of whoever is carrying him
2) He loves to use his feet to stand. We've noticed this only happened after the maternal & child nurse came to our place to have his weight & health check up. The nurse had to also perform a reflex test which basically involves carrying the baby upright to see if he will use his feet to walk & of course Zach did it! Apparently these reflexes will only be present in newborns for the first 6weeks & then afterwards they will completely lose this knowledge & it will re-appear again nearing 8mths when they start to learn how to walk again. Interesting hey?
3) Zach use to drink about 80-85ml of milk during his 1st week stay in hospital. Now that my breast is overflowing with milk, my little one has increased his intake of milk to approx 125ml. His feeds are on avg 2-3hrs apart like his first week.
When he left the hospital, he weighed 3.3kg. Now that it's been a week at home, he now weighs 3.79kg. The maternal child nurse told me that avg weight gain at week 2 is about 100-300grams. For our little Minga who absolutely loves eating like his daddy, his weight gain was a whopping 500grams! Boy did it scare me but the nurse said that it's really good that Zach's feeding & pooing well. What a relief...!
4) His jaundice has also come down which is evident through the colour of his complexion. He is less yellow although his eyes are still yellow. We also noticed that the everyday sunbake has caused him to be a dark baby like his daddy... so we've now stopped sunbaking him.
5) We heard him talk baby language at about 15 days old. So so cute...
6) We also noticed that he smiles more now & sometimes if you're lucky you will also hear the giggle noise that he makes when he gives a BIG smile.
7) The colour of his poo has now turned to a darkish yellow to brown colour which is once again completely normal
8) We also noticed that he's grown so much! Already he can not wear his jumpsuits that are sized 000. He now wears 00 & I can still remember when the nurse laughed at me for giving him such a big jumpsuit when he was first born. Now a week later, He fits 00 perfectly! OMG my baby's growing way too fast...!
