Zachariah at 3 weeks old

1) He now loves to scream at a very high pitched tone right after he finishes drinking his milk. I think it's a combination of him feeling pain in his tummy due to too much wind as well as him trying to seek attention from his parents.

2) His navel is nearing normal now as most of the scab has fallen off! Hallelujah! Just look at his cute little belly button! yay!

3) He has also grown both vertically and horizontally. My baby, like his father, officially do not have a neck anymore but rather a double chin. Ha! Zach's weight has increased by another 440grams from last week. He officially weighs 4.23kg (from 3.3kg at week 1 & 3.79kg at week 2). His head has also grown another 2cm since his birth to 38cm circumference.

4) Zach now loves to sleep during day time and is so alert and do not want to sleep at night. This week alone he had woken up every one hour which is every parent's nightmare! But on avg he now wakes up every 2hours at night while day time he can sleep up to 4.5hrs! What is going on?! I'm hoping to get him to sleep for at least 3hours at night like he used to when he was 1-2weeks old. Tips anyone? p/s I did try to feed him more at night (eg. from 85ml to 125ml) in an attempt to satisfy his tummy so he would sleep longer. But it backfired on me as he now loves to drink that amount & will not happy if he has any less! Arghhh!

5) Zach loves his feed so much that he drinks way too fast. As a result, most of the times he would vomit out milk when I'm burping him & gives me a 'oh oh, sorry mummy' look after he's totally wet his jumpsuit & my clothing.

6) I've also noticed eyelashes are now growing under his eyelids! yay! So hopefully he can soon remove goobies in his eye with his eyelashes!

7) I can see how much stronger my little one has become. He now loves to use his feet to kick to make his way up to whatever he's lying on. Also when you place him on your chest, he also lifts his neck up for at least a minute to stare at your face. So so cute.. my heart just melts every time he does this.

his face changed so much... so much more defined now huh? wow!!!! he's definitely hasn't got any problem with his appetite. but that's good though as compared to those children (like mine) who don't like to eat. as for the waking up at night, i was about to suggest that you feed him more b4 putting him to sleep but now that it backfired on you, i dunno what else to suggest, except tryin to keep him awake longer during the day, everytime you see him about to fall asleep during the day, try to play with him, basically try to keep him awake and stretch his waking up time longer bit by bit, probably 5 mins longer at a time, until hopefully he'll have the idea of day and night then you should have good night sleep.

does he have an outtie belly button? i think most of aust babies have outties. wonder why? probably the way they clamped the umbilical cord. cos last time i remember i wanted JL to have an innnie. b4 i gave birth, i checked all the belly buttons of the children in the child care that i worked at, they all have outties, except for those born overseas. and sure enough, JL too has an outtie.
