New Quay

One of Mr M's client is the owner of the very successful New Quay Restaurant. Remember in my other blog, they came to visit us in SG and were sharing with us their ideas & plans of their new venture? Now that was back in Nov 2007! 1.5yrs on, they're now a successful cash cow even in the midst of a recession too! Every day & night it's a full house!
Anyway, tonight we went to their joint to finally taste the food and boy it's not hard to understand why they're flourishing! Mind you, their all you can eat buffet restaurant is not your typical Singaporean Hotel kinda classy restaurant. It is also not your Foodstar - lower end of buffet. Instead, it sits right in the middle - more your middle class style restaurant in the heart of the very beautiful Docklands which overlooks the water & yachts of Melbourne. The food are always very fresh because as Anita told me, they do not compromise on the quality of their produce. They always pay for the best even if the fruits/veg are not in season and boy you can really taste it too! Because their food is pretty good, you really do get your money's worth. A must try is their peking duck (yes it comes with the wrap too! - all you can eat!), their wonton soup, the very addictive salad prawn & our fav - peppermint choc chip icecream! Dinner is around $45pp while lunch is $35pp. You must book before you come otherwise there is a high chance you won't get a seat!
The only downside to NewQuay is that Prams are NOT allowed into the restaurant. Not only that, they only have 1 high chair. So on the night, lucky us had a babysitter to look after Z. Because Charlie & Anita lives just upstairs of their restaurant, Anita took Z with her to her home while her two beautiful kids played with their new didi throughout the night. Mummy & daddy on the other hand were fortunate enough to eat dinner in peace finally! :)
