I came up to Sydney for work & coincidentally Tiger airways was having a huge sale for flights to Syd return for only AUD$78 return inc of tax! So Mr M decided to come with me.
First night we stayed at Mariott in the heart of Circular Quay over looking the harbour bridge. After we had checked in, we headed straight for Newtown strip of famous Thai cuisine. We settled for Thai in Town which had a lot of ppl in there despite the lack of decor in the restaurant. The food was not bad. Pad Thai was a disappointment but the fried basil vegetable stir fry was absolutely delicious! The fried basil literally melted in your mouth with the burst of flavour.

On our second night, we stayed at Medina in North Ryde close to my work place. We went to visit Sandeep's new castle and of course his little boy for the first time! His darling wife & MIL cooked us a delicious Indian cuisine. Sorry no pics here b/c we didn't want to use flash around the baby since it was night time already. There will be plenty of next times sanDEEP! ;)
Thanks for the warm hospitality oh and the packets of khatta meeta too! I've finally open it!
On our last day in Sydney after my Corporate Athlete training, we went to Burwood for the famous Roast Goose along Burwood Road. Boy did the restaurant not disappoint. We felt like we were in HK all over again. It's a shame Melbourne don't have roast goose in many of the Chinese restaurants here. Compared with Sydney, it really put us to shame! The roast goose was absolutely delicious (if you excuse the fat of course!).
Anyhow, we took my dear uncle for dinner & I proudly handed over him his first packet of Ang Pow from us as a token of respect & to wish him well during CNY! He gladly accepted it & told us that we were not to pay the bill. While he was engrossed in a deep conversation with me, Mr M went up to pay the bill & my dear uncle had totally been oblivious to it. Then after dinner, he got up to pay for the bill only for the staff to tell him that it had been all settled. You should've seen the disappointment on his face! We had one good scolding from him alright!
My uncle was just so cute. You see he has a very strong sense of Chinese culture. Throughout the dinner, he told me in front of Mr M, just how important it was that I, as a woman and Mr M's wife, am to cook for the family every single day. Of course, there will be times where I will need a rest so Mr M will step him to help once in a while. However, the duty of a Chinese wife is to cook for her husband every day. Mr M was very pleased with his words of wisdom while I on the other hand was rolling my eyes... LOL. You just got to love him!
After we returned from Sydney, my cheeky husband has always been reminding me of my uncle's words of wisdom so that he doesn't have to cook on any single night! Grrrr...
