(Source: babycentre.com.au)Your baby's head is getting bigger and his brain is developing billions of neurons (important for later learning) at an amazing rate. His nutritional needs are growing too. To meet his body's demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid and iron. His bones in particular are soaking up lots of calcium right now, so drink your milk (or if you don't like the taste, try calcium-enriched orange juice).
Your baby now weighs around 1.1 kilograms and measures about 38 centimetres from head to toe. In boys, testicles descend from near the kidneys through the groin en route to the scrotum. In girls, the clitoris is relatively prominent because it's not yet covered by the still-small labia. These will grow to cover it in the last few weeks before birth. Your baby's head is getting bigger, and brain growth is very rapid at this time. Nearly all babies react to sound by 30 weeks. Your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during the third trimester. You'll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and calcium (about 200 milligrams is deposited in your baby's skeleton every day), so eat foods rich in these nutrients. The skeleton hardens even more and the brain, muscles, and lungs continue to mature.
Baby Minga is now getting more and more restless by night. As soon as I lie down on my bed, he becomes very grumpy & starts doing his kung fu fighting kicks to me. It's cute at first but I tell you, it becomes very tiring especially when you are so sleep deprived. He likes to move around a lot too now. He moves more than he kicks that's for sure! It's even more embarrassing when your colleagues realised this & tell you how much of a zombie you look at work! haiz..
Baby Minga has grown a lot too. All of a sudden my soft tummy has become very hard and at times you can feel his limb/hand sticking out of my tummy. It's such an amazing feeling.
Sleeping at nights has also become a challenge because of another reason. Since baby has grown so much bigger in size in the tummy, this has resulted in poor blood flow to other parts of my body. Thank God I haven't had another pins & needles attack in my head again after that last scary encounter. However, my legs & hands have experienced lack of blood flow so much so that I would wake up at night having to shake my leg/hand just to get some blood flow through it. So this means, I get less and less sleep every night. I think my entire 3rd trimester is really preparing me for motherhood. I am so used to getting up at wee hours of the night at least 3 times! And my poor hubby is also feeling the lack of sleep thanks to me...
The other thing that our little bub loves doing is to sit on my bladder or to kick at my bladder. Sometimes it's so bad that I literally have to run to the loo even though I have just come out of the loo. It's such an uncomfortable feeling.
Anyway, here's a snapshot of me at 29wks! carrying baby Minga!
