Preparing the Labour/Hospital Bag(s)

At our antenatal class, the midwife generally advise us to pack our labour/hospital bag at around 36-37weeks of gestation.

Now that I've reached it, it's time to do this dreaded next step of preparation!

Things in a LABOUR BAG:
* Hair tie for long hair
* Bathers/shorts for partner
* Lip balm
* Camera/spare batteries
* Videocam (although this can not be used for delivery as it's against hospital's insurance policy)
* Massage Oil (which I'm not taking)
* Aromatherapy Oils (which I'm not taking)
* Telephone numbers (it's all in our mob)
* Music (CD's yes it's all in my bag plus my MP3 player!)
* Lollies/sweet fix for sugar supply (if you're in labour and do not eat/have your sugar fix, then baby will be surrounded in acid which will make your labour even more painful as he will continously push against your cervix when it's not fully dilated yet).
* Toiletries/clothes for partner since papa Ming will also be staying with us during our 5 days in hospital
* Toiletries for mum including maternity & breast pads
* PJs/outfit for after birth
* Socks/Comfortable footwear
* Large undies (this will come really handy as the hospital's maternity pads are apparently very very large!)
* I'm also going to be bringing my Yoga Ball & fan heater/bucket for my cold feet in an attempt to keep myself relaxed & occupied during labour!

Things in a BABY BAG:
* 5 Nighties or jumpsuits
* Singlets and/or bodysuits
* Baby soap/solution
* Cardigan/hat/booties/mittens
* Bunny rug/blanket for going home
* Disposable nappies & bunny rugs are provided by the hospital during your stay at no extra charge (yepee!)
