During L&R's wedding dinner, all of us on the table was saying how we should all go fishing again especially with the great weather Melbourne has been experiencing. So thanks to Wongie (the fab organiser of not only weddings but events in general!), all of us ended up at Cape Schank along the Mornington Peninsula coast the following Saturday at 8:30am! :) And what a glorious day it was for fishing in deed.
While everyone was busy setting up & taking their fishing gear, I, being the not so keen fisherwoman was eager to take my laptop ready to catch up on my work while everyone tried to catch their fish on the rocks.
What a classic shot!
To get to the ocean, it was a long way down...
At least a km's walk on the great wall of China so some people calls it.
Notice the team on the right hand corner of the picture who looked like ants marching away with their fishing gear...
The million dollar view on the way
As soon as we reached the ground, the enthusiasts Wongie & Irene were the first to cast their line out into the ocean (don't they look like cavemen with their spears ready to catch their fish), while Wongie's husband on the other hand...
.... was busy pondering on the meaning of life or perhaps wondering how many kids he will have in the near future ;)
An hour later, Wongie caught a fish, then Glenn & Mr M also caught a fish at the same time (all parrot fish which are my fav for steaming!) and take a look at the difference in size between the 2 fish hey? Yes that's right, my hubby's fish is the one on the right compared to um.. yes. Mr M's fish was HUGE! LOL!
Then after about 2hours later, the tide decided to come in & rock fishing suddenly became very dangerous. The water was literally coming up to the rocks because it was now high tide.
We decided to pack our belongings & headed down the next suburb in Flinders Pier where I finally joined in the excitement.
Funny enough I managed to catch 3 fish on the day (all Whitings) and for some weird reason, Mr M & I would always catch it the same time. This happened twice! How bizarre!
Here were the other folk's catches:
